For in-house legal teams in groups and companies
More requests handled, with the same team.
An in-house legal team cannot grow at the pace of requests: requests keep rising, budgets do not. Ulpian brings contracts, compliance, internal requests and outside counsel together on one platform, with the same figures as the finance department.
What you will see in Ulpian
Fictitious matter, sample data.
A tabular review, cell by cell
Every document receives the same questions, and every answer keeps the passage it rests on. The table fills as you scroll; click a cell to read its source.
| Document | Term | Termination | Liability cap | Governing law |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Supply agreement Alpha | 3 years, renewable | 6 months' notice | Annual contract price | Swiss law |
| Software licence Beta | 1 year | 30 days | No clause found | English law |
| Distribution agreement Gamma | 5 years | For good cause only | CHF 500'000 | Swiss law |
| Service agreement Delta | Indefinite term | 3 months' notice | Direct damage | German law |

The legal department has become a help desk
Legal teams now receive requests from everywhere: commercial contracts, HR, compliance, intellectual property, tax, M&A. Each request arrives by email or Slack, with no context and no priority. Without a platform, the team spends its time chasing files and arbitrating instead of practising law.
- 01
Scattered requests, unclear priorities
Colleagues write to several lawyers at once. Without a single point of entry, the team decides in a rush.
- 02
Contracts spread across several systems
DocuSign on one side, SharePoint on the other and emails everywhere: nobody can easily say which contracts expire this quarter.
- 03
Compliance fragmented by country
GDPR, FADP, DORA, sanctions: tracking the obligations of an international group without a platform keeps one person busy full time.
- 04
Outside counsel spend that is hard to read
Scattered quotes, invoices not linked to matters and no quality indicators: management simply absorbs the spend.
What changes for the legal department
Measurable effects over a quarter, which you can present to the executive committee with real figures.

A single desk for requests
Colleagues submit their requests through a structured channel. Priority, response time and the assigned lawyer are visible at a glance.
Contracts in one place, deadlines in view
A single register of contracts in force: renewals, sensitive clauses and parties tracked in the same place.
Compliance you track rather than endure
GDPR, FADP and sector-specific requirements: obligations are linked to matters instead of sitting in a forgotten spreadsheet.
Outside counsel under control
The same matters, the same documents and the same deadlines, with quotes and invoices attached: legal spend becomes readable.
Reporting ready for management
Volumes, request types, response times, risks and external spend, readable by the board.
AI under control on the group's matters
Drafts and contract reviews, questions asked out loud without leaving the matter, approval before anything is sent, and no training on your data.
From the internal request to the quarterly report
- Step 0101
Every request comes through the same entry point
One sentence is enough: category, priority, response time and assigned lawyer are set as soon as it arrives.
- Step 0202
The right matter for the right lawyer
Based on the area of law, the group entity and the jurisdiction. Simple requests receive a standard answer; the others open a matter.
- Step 0303
Drafts, contracts and opinions
The assistant prepares the first version from your templates. The lawyer reviews, adjusts and signs; versions and comments stay in the matter.
- Step 0404
Approval in proportion to the risk
A binding contract, a position on a risk or a document issued on behalf of the group: the right level approves it, and a record remains.
- Step 0505
Outside counsel under control
When outside counsel is instructed, the matter stays with you, with quotes, fee notes and deliverables attached.
- Step 0606
The quarterly report is already done
Volumes, response times, contracts at risk and external spend are consolidated from the actual work, with no manual compilation.
Built for demanding legal departments
Multiple jurisdictions
GDPR, FADP, sector-specific requirements and sanctions, with data kept separate for each subsidiary.
Controlled approvals
Seven permission levels, approval workflows based on risk and a log of who approved what.
AI that discloses nothing
No training on your contracts, identifiers pseudonymised before any call to an external model, and a platform hosted in Switzerland by a Swiss provider. Your own cloud or an installation on your premises with Enterprise.
Continuous audit
Sign-ins, changes, AI runs and external spend, in a log you can export for an internal or external audit.
For legal departments that want to keep up with demand without growing
- 01
Industrial groups
Several subsidiaries and jurisdictions: commercial contracts, intellectual property, M&A and sector-specific compliance.
- 02
Financial services
Banks, insurers and asset managers: dense compliance, client contracts and regulatory risk.
- 03
Tech and SaaS
Data processing agreements, terms and conditions, intellectual property and partnerships.
- 04
Mid-sized companies
A small legal team, called on by every department, that has to do more with the same resources.
The questions that come up in tenders
See pricingWe already have a contract management tool. Why change?
Ulpian does not necessarily replace your contract management tool: it organises requests, in-house lawyers, outside counsel and AI. Your current tool can stay or be replaced, depending on your situation.
How does Ulpian connect to our systems?
Today: connection to Outlook and Google, SharePoint and Drive storage, and full exports (CSV, PDF, audit log). Accounting, ERP and e-signature are Enterprise integrations, on a contractual roadmap.
Our contracts fall under several jurisdictions.
The system handles multiple jurisdictions. Switzerland gets QR-bill, chart of accounts and VAT; Justitia.Swiss is in preparation. Elsewhere, generic operation with local accounting.
What about our obligations under the FADP and the GDPR?
Your data is hosted in Switzerland, which the EU recognises as providing adequate protection; a data processing agreement is available, and Enterprise includes support for your data protection officer. Subsidiaries are strictly separated, and audit exports follow a standard format.
