For law firms, across all practice areas
From the exhibit to the invoice, in the same matter.Litigation, advisory or transactional work: the same matter and the same record.
A firm should not lose hours gathering exhibits, re-entering time and rebuilding files before an audit. Ulpian brings matters, finance and AI together in one platform. Partners keep the decisions; the preparatory work is done for them.

From the day's time to a matched payment
The day's activity becomes proposed time entries, then a pre-bill, a QR-bill and a payment matched against the bank. Each step advances as you scroll.

- More time billed
- Hours recovered
- Less re-keying
- A single system
- More control
- Everything on record
Time recorded while the work is done, not reconstructed on Friday evening.
Documents, contacts, entries and deadlines attached to the same matter.
Anything going to a client or a judge goes through a decision by a named person.
A firm's billable time gets lost in side tasks
Partners and associates are paid for their judgement. Yet a large share of their hours goes into rereading standard clauses, searching Outlook for documents, re-entering time and preparing invoices by hand. That time has a cost, and it is not billed.
- 01
Research, reading and clause comparison
Methodical, necessary work, but repetitive. AI prepares it in a few minutes; the lawyer decides.
- 02
Reading data rooms and sorting risks
Five thousand documents, weeks of reading and the risk of missing one. Ulpian flags the discrepancies; the judgement stays with the team.
- 03
Standard clauses read for the umpteenth time
Indemnity, liability, jurisdiction, force majeure. Recognising patterns and comparing them with the firm's templates is work that AI does well.
- 04
Unrecorded hours, delayed invoices
Time and ideas get lost between the meeting, the internal note and the invoice. Dictate while you work: the note goes into the matter, and the time goes onto the invoice.
- 05
Learning the firm's own know-how
Templates, internal positions and precedents: as long as this knowledge stays in people's heads, it is not passed on.
- 06
Manual reconstruction for compliance
Without an organised record, an audit means rebuilding everything. Ulpian keeps a readable history up to the decision.
What changes on a real matter
Visible effects from the first week, on a representative matter during setup.

Research in hours rather than days
On the official sources of your jurisdiction: applicable law, case law and opposing arguments. The partner approves the position.
Drafts prepared from your templates
Memos, contracts and letters: the first version is prepared for you. The lawyer reviews it, adjusts it and signs.
Approval before sending
Anything that concerns a client or a court can go through an approval workflow with named approvers.
From recorded time to the invoice sent
Timer, time entry, approvals, a Swiss QR-bill or a PDF invoice elsewhere, with no re-keying into accounting.
Knowledge that gets passed on
Templates, positions and precedents are indexed. A new associate finds the firm's know-how without chasing a partner.
An audit ready to export
Sign-ins, changes, AI runs and payments: everything remains available to management and compliance.
From the client's first call to payment
- Step 0101
The matter is opened in two minutes
Parties, matter type, conflicts checked, team assigned and templates loaded for the practice area. Contacts and finance pick up the matter without further configuration.
- Step 0202
The assistant prepares the ground
Your documents, case law and precedents are summarised. You can ask a question out loud without leaving the matter. Citations can be checked and opposing arguments are listed; the partner decides the strategy.
- Step 0303
Drafts prepared from your templates
Memo, brief, contract or letter. The lawyer reviews, adjusts and signs; versions and comments stay in the matter.
- Step 0404
Time is recorded while you work
Timer, voice notes on the matter, time entries suggested from activity and approval according to your rates. Time no longer gets lost between the meeting and the invoice.
- Step 0505
Approval before anything goes to the client
An approval workflow with named approvers for sensitive items: no memo leaves the firm without a recorded decision.
- Step 0606
Invoice, bank and accounting connected
A Swiss QR-bill or a PDF invoice elsewhere, bank reconciliation, export to your accounting system and a complete audit log.
Built for professional secrecy
Your data stays within your environment
Platform hosted in Switzerland by a Swiss provider. Identifiers pseudonymised before external calls when the option is on. No training on your documents. A dedicated deployment with an Enterprise quotation.
Human approval on what goes out
AI decisions are logged, approvals are made by named people and every proposal can be refused. The firm signs off.
Seven permission levels
Administrator, partner, associate, trainee, accountant, assistant and read-only: each role sees what concerns it.
Exportable audit log
Sign-ins, changes, AI runs, payments and exports: a readable log for management and compliance.
Every practice area in a firm
- 01
Litigation
Strategy, exhibits, research, briefs and hearings, in the same matter.
- 02
Advisory and corporate
Due diligence, negotiation, signing and closing, with the evidence built up as the work goes along.
- 03
Family and estates
Proceedings, many parties, formalities and long-term follow-up, without losing the history.
- 04
Intellectual property, M&A and regulated sectors
Practices with large document volumes, where tabular review saves the most time.
The questions partners ask
See pricingDo we have to give up our current software to start?
No. You start on a representative matter alongside your current tool, then switch over gradually without interrupting ongoing matters.
Can the AI make mistakes?
Yes, like any tool. The AI proposes and the lawyer decides: every output can go through approval by a named person. The assistant cites its sources and, in deep research, an independent check verifies every citation against the official sources.
Our clients require hosting in the European Union or in Switzerland.
The platform is hosted in Switzerland by a Swiss provider, out of reach of the US CLOUD Act, and the EU recognises Switzerland as providing adequate protection. With Enterprise, a dedicated instance in the European Union or an installation on your premises, with private AI if you wish.
Does Ulpian draft Swiss filings and letters?
Yes, for firms established in Switzerland. The Swiss pack holds 545 guided filings and letters: civil procedure, debt enforcement, family and succession, criminal law, public law, tenancy, employment, tax, companies and contracts. Drafts are written in French, German or Italian and laid out to Swiss filing conventions. Every rule stays marked "to be checked": the lawyer reviews and decides. Outside Switzerland, the pack is not active. Your own templates remain yours, kept separate from the pack. Firms established in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal or Spain get their own country's pack: 5,436 guided filings and letters in all (654 to 695 per country), written in the country's language (French for Belgium and Luxembourg), laid out to its conventions and marked "to be checked" in the same way.
Is there a minimum number of seats?
No minimum. The launch offer covers up to 150 users; beyond that, Enterprise applies.
